Philips is to challenge the idea that the living room is
the only place to watch television by introducing a range
of seven medium and small flat screen FlatTV™ sets to
give consumers total flexibility on where and how they view
their favorite content.
Like their larger cousins, Philips' small flat screen FlatTVs
combine the space-saving benefits of flat and slim TVs with
the very latest LCD technology to offer nothing less than
perfect picture quality.
With more widescreen material available than ever before -
on DVD and from broadcasters - Philips is introducing a pair
of widescreen models in its small flat screen FlatTV range.
The 23-inch (58cm) 23PF9945 and 17" (45cm) 17PF9945
sets take the home entertainment experience to any room in
the house. For consumers who need a smaller flat screen TV,
but still want to enjoy the full home cinema effect at home
of lifelike pictures and engaging sound, Philips smaller widescreen
FlatTVs don't disappoint expectations.
Philips' Crystal Clear III system, a suite of innovative
picture technologies which drive contrast, brightness and
color definition, deliver levels of onscreen performance unparalled
by other display technologies in the same screen sizes. To
ensure picture quality is constantly at its best, the 23"
and 17" flat screen FlatTVs feature Active Control, a
package of technologies which optimizes pictures being put
through the set to adjust images individually and automatically
for the best result.
By adding Dolby® Virtual Surround, the Dolby® Prologic
soundtrack of a movie or TV broadcast can be reproduced using
a sound technique that gives listeners the impression that
their listening to a multi-channel audio system with speakers
located all around them. The flat screen TV set can be installed
as the centerpiece of any audio-video system with a choice
of peripheral connectivity choices. These include four SCART
connections, cinch jacks for S-Video and audio input/output,
and a VGA socket for hooking up a PC.
LCD panel technology has enabled Philips to create a set of
portable flat screen FlatTVs that are as easy to carry around
as a notebook PC.
The launch this year of the 20" (51cm), 15" (40cm)
and 13" (35cm) portable flat screen LCD FlatTVs will
certainly help TV viewers free themselves from the living
room - and even freed from the house itself if they have a
garden. Each flat screen model has its own handle (which doubles
as a support stand), and with all three sets weighing around
5kg each, they are light enough to be carried around the house
with ease. And with an integrated FM stereo radio, these flat
screen FlatTVs are the perfect solution for entertainment
inside and outside the house.
