The 30PF9975 features Philips’ award-winning Pixel
Plus technology, an advanced processor-based solution evolved
out of years of development in advanced television picture
processing capabilities by Philips.
Pixel Plus LCD display makes a breathtaking difference in
the image definition of a standard television picture, almost
tripling the number of lines and pixel per line, then making
each pixel extremely sophisticated, creating visibly higher
definition as a result.
The process then sharpens the quality of each individual
pixel, enhancing details in a picture and making them more
natural. As a result, Pixel Plus is capable of calculating
at a maximum picture resolution of the lines and pixels per
line, with processed pictures automatically scaled to match
the resolution of the screen the images are being displayed
on. Furthermore, Pixel Plus distinguishes between signals
from a standard TV broadcast and a digital source like DVD
to dynamically ensure optimum picture quality at all times.
Along with Pixel Plus, the 30PF9975 also features another
product of Philips’ competency in television image processing,
Digital Natural Motion, which guarantees a smooth, judder-free
picture regardless of how fast images onscreen move. The set
also features Active Control, a dynamic system which ensures
the optimum on-screen LCD display image by use of a light
sensor to gauge ambient light in the viewing room and automatically
adjust the video signal accordingly.
The Philips 30PF9975 Pixel Plus widescreen LCD display FlatTV
features an integrated tuner, freeing the set from any need
for an external tuner and processing box. All picture processing
is done internally.
Sound output is handled by four on-board speakers, with the
set producing 20 watts RMS of stereo audio. Dolby® Virtual
Surround provides simulated home theatre sound, and the set
can be installed as the centrepiece of any audio-video system
with a choice of peripheral connectivity choices. These include
four SCART connections, cinch jacks for YuV, S-Video and audio
input/output, and a VGA socket for hooking up a PC.
The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) has named
the 30PF9975 Pixel Plus FlatTV the European LCD display TV
of the Year 2003-2004. In its official citation, the 2003
EISA Awards judging panel stated: “With its built-in
tuner, progressive scan and PC connectivity, plus Philips’
proprietary Pixel Plus, Crystal Clear and Digital Natural
Motion enhancements, this is one chic, smart TV set.”
