Here at the Custom Electronic Design & Installation
Association (CEDIA) trade show in Indianapolis, Sony Electronics
(Booth # 616) today showcased its first Sony plasma monitor
with built-in tuner and speakers.
Mirroring the stylish appeal, trend-setting design and high
performance of the company's current PFM42B1 flat panel monitor,
the new model is designed for the consumer marketplace and
has the style to dress up the decor of any room in the home.
The unit features a 16:9 screen framed in a slender, brushed
silver cabinet. It also includes a detachable stand for tabletop
viewing or wall mounting in media entertainment rooms, bedrooms,
exercise rooms, kitchens or home offices. When placed on a
coffee table or in an entertainment center, the tabletop stand
on the Sony plasma monitor serves to conceal wire connections,
creating a polished, elegant look.
"From a form factor point-of-view, the sleek size,
layout and depth of the new Sony plasma monitor makes it a
distinctive choice and focal point in creating a modern day
`room-with-a-view' look," said Lisa Baldino, marketing
manager of Sony Electronics' Display Systems Division. "Equally
appealing is the plasma's display, which offers high brightness
and superbly detailed images in either standard or digital
formats."
The new Sony plasma monitor/receiver showcases detailed
images in either 4:3 or 16:9 picture formats from such sources
as DVDs, cable boxes, satellite receivers and DTV set top
boxes. It also has flexible video inputs, including component
and S-video, as well as computer.
The Sony plasma monitor / display with built-in tuner and
speakers will be available early next year.
