HDTV projectors: ViewSonic® Corporation, a worldwide
Visual Technologies™ leader, unveiled at the 2002 Consumer
Electronics Show two HDTV projectors designed not only to
meet the stringent requirements of business professionals,
but also deliver the versatility and ease of use demanded
by home theater enthusiasts.
With estimated street prices (ESP) of $1895 and $2495 respectively,
the PJ500 and PJ550 HDTV projectors are affordable alternatives
to stationary, bulky and expensive big-screen TVs. Weighing
just five pounds each, both offer compatibility, ease of use
and excellent image quality in a lightweight, mobile form
factor that can be easily transported and adapted from home
to business environments. They offer consumers a source of
entertainment that can be used with video and TV signals,
as well as with PCs and laptops for games, web surfing and
digital photography. In addition, the PJ550 offers higher
XGA resolution for extremely clear, crisp images.
"Consumers are no longer limited to rear projection
systems as the only retail option when it comes to big-screen,
high-resolution viewing in the home", said Jennifer Litten,

shattering the $2,000 barrier and offering a feature-rich
product that does more than just process TV signals, ViewSonic
is helping people transform their living rooms into multi-offering,
home entertainment centers using their new HDTV projectors."
Both the PJ500 and the PJ550 HDTV projectors operate at a
whisper-quiet 33db and offer one-touch setup for fast, easy
sync and sharp focus. Both support HDTV signals, including
480i, 480p, up to1080i, as well as other video and data sources.
Other features include 1200 lumens, a short focal length for
large clear images at a short distance, digital keystone correction
and zoom functions. In addition, enhanced video inputs for
component and s-video, and the eco-mode setting for energy
and lamp life conservation make the PJ500 and PJ550 ideal
for any home entertainment setting or budget-conscious business.
Visitors to the ViewSonic booth at space #13706 of the Las
Vegas Convention Center from January 8-11 can speak to industry
experts while experiencing the new HDTV projectors, along
with other next-generation display products.
The ViewSonic PJ500, at an ESP of $1895, and the PJ550 HDTV
projectors, at $2495, will be available through retail outlets,
including Best Buy, Fry's Electronics, and Office Depot, along
with mail-order and PC reseller channels beginning in mid-January.
