ViewSonic Corp. is further extending its award-winning NextVision®
display technology into the home with the announcement of
a large-screen DLP™ rear projection TV and introduction
of two additions to its line of LCD TVs. The company, a worldwide
leader in visual display products, is unveiling the NextVision
N5600w rear projection TV, N3020w and N3000w at the 2004 International
Consumer Electronics Show (CES). These wide screen digital
TVs (DTV) add to the company’s growing list of consumer
electronics products.
According to iSuppli/Stanford Resources, rear-projection
TVs accounted for 64 percent of the DTV market in 2003, while
LCD TVs will claim the largest portion of the $38.7 billion
DTV market with a 41 percent share of unit sales by 2007[i].
Capitalizing on its worldwide visual display expertise and
award-winning heritage, ViewSonic is expanding into these
new fast-growing consumer electronics segments.
“Because of its display technology leadership, ViewSonic
is better positioned than traditional computing or consumer
electronics companies to capture a larger share of DTV growth,”
said James Chu, ViewSonic chairman and CEO. “Consumers
want bigger pictures, better performance and greater functionality—our
NextVision line delivers by combining a superior viewing experience
with versatile multimedia options.”
Available in the second quarter of 2004, the rear projection
TV NextVision N5600w will feature ultra-wide viewing angles
and a native resolution of 1280x720 that supports standard,
enhanced and HDTV signals (480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i), making
it the perfect large-screen multimedia display to showcase
digital entertainment in the home.
The NextVision N3020w and N3000w offer high performance and
value to consumers, while satisfying increasing demand for
large, flat-screen, high-definition-ready TVs. Both products
deliver excellent front-of-screen performance and a consistent,
high-quality digital visual experience, regardless of the
content being shown.
Visitors to the 2004 International CES at the Las Vegas Convention
Center through Jan. 11 can experience ViewSonic’s new
consumer offerings along with the company’s recently
introduced convertible tablet PC, projectors, plasma screens
and personal displays at booth 22427.
In addition, ViewSonic is also providing a glimpse into the
future with its prototype wireless vehicle entertainment system
integrated into the design of the Visteon HUMMER H2 eUV. The
customized Entertainment Utility Vehicle is located in the
parking lot outside the convention center.
