Samsung LCD sales secured the No.1 spot in
the Chinese liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor market
in the first quarter by sales volume, reported Taiwan¡¯s
Digitimes on Friday, quoting data from the government-sponsored
China Center of Information Industry Development (CCID).
According to the CCID, Samsung sold 464,860 Samsung LCD monitors
in China during the first quarter, while continuing to hold
the largest market share of 27.64 percent. Phillips came in
second place with a market share of 18.66 percent, followed
by LG Electronics with 17.33 percent.
The total sales volume for Samsung LCD monitors in China
edged up 2.91 percent year-on-year to 1.682 million units
in the first quarter, while shipments of CRT monitors rose
28.54 percent. CCID said the trend is quite different from
the global one because in the Chinese market CRT monitors
are expected to outsell LCD monitors.
The average sales price of 15-inch Samsung LCD monitors slipped
11.82 percent compared to the prior quarter, while that of
17-inch models dropped 17.34 percent, said the CCID.
